Sometimes at the end of the school year I would grow so tired of school that I couldn't imagine going to school for another minute. On that day, my mother would give me a much needed break and take me out of school for a day of fun with the ladies. Our morning would be spent going to garage sales with her friends and if I was lucky getting a bite to eat with the money we had left over. My mother is a keen shopper and a sale sniffer. She taught me how to compare prices, haggle for a better price, and walk away when there was no deal to be had. She also taught me when to pay more and when buying the least expensive option was acceptable as well. This was how I remember being introduced to saving my money and spending it wisely.
I will not claim to be a savings queen or know everything there is to know about saving a buck. There is so much I'm still learning about saving every single day. There are programs and incentives I simply don't have time for. (Let's be real, I have two very young kids, a dog, a husband, lots of hobbies, and all the mess that goes along with having such things.) In addition, there are too many scams on the internet. So when I post about coupon savings, apps, or other saving programs it is because I use them myself and have found them to be worth while. That doesn't mean there aren't other ways to save out there, but I'll only post about the ones that work for me.
I began posting DIY projects, family stories, and favorite things because I enjoy the process of putting words down on a page. I had planned on becoming an English teacher when I was in college, a few years later I had earned a bachelor degree in retail management and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction. My love of writing and reading never went away and for many years I have felt the need to share my experiences and discoveries with anyone who would care to read them.
When I learned that I could include links to the items I love I figured it may help put a little extra money into my kid's college fund. In addition, I LOVE Amazon and purchase almost everything except my groceries from them.
At this time (January 2018), any item I've recommended or reviewed is one that I or my husband has purchased. No company is sending me items to review (although I sometimes wish that were the case). So please know any review or opinion I post to my blog is my own. That being said, even though no company is sending me items, if you click a link in my posts and purchase an item or sign up for a reward program I may receive a commission. I personally thank you very much for any commission I receive! Pennies in the bank do add up over time!
So that's it really. I'm a stay at home mom who loves projects, a good deal, and traveling. I can't do the things I love without a budget and so I find deals and coupons that help me save money. I'm sharing my stories, projects, experiences, and findings with you.
Thank you for joining me.
